Mike Martin, MS, CSCS, Owner Next Level Athletic Development:

Mike attended and played collegiate soccer at Eastern Mennonite University and graduated in 2000 with a Bachelors of Science degree in Heath and Physical Education.  Upon graduation, he started on a ten-year teaching and high school soccer coaching career.

Mike earned his Master of Science Degree in Exercise Science from James Madison University in 2009.  While at JMU he worked as an intern in the Strength and Conditioning program under the supervision of one Master Strength and Conditioning Coach (MSCC) and one of the most well-respected Strength and Conditioning coaches in the Nation; Greg Werner.  While at JMU, Mike was able to get hands on experience training D1 athletes and teams.

Mike earned his CSCS (Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist) from the National Strength and Conditioning Association and open Next Level Athletic Development (NLAD) in 2010.  He started training athletes out of the basement of his house and grew into 2,500 square foot facility.  After a year and ½ in that facility, he moved NLAD into it’s current 9,500 squat foot facility with 6,000 square feet of indoor turf space.

Since he has been owner of NLAD, Mike has had the privilege to train some high-level athletes and teams including professional athletes, three-time NCAA D3 Women’s basketball National Tournament qualifier; Eastern Mennonite University, several D1 baseball and softball players, several D2 and D3 athletes and numerous high school and middle school athletes ranging from D1 to D3 commits.

 

Bay Liskey, CSCS

Director of Hitting Development

Bay played baseball at Bridgewater college, graduated with a degree in exercise science and originally started with us a strength coach writing training programs and coaching our athletes.  He has now transitioned to our full-time hitting development coordinator for our baseball and softball athletes.  He utilizes his background in performance training, anatomy and physiology and as a baseball player to blend current research on hitting and swing mechanics/movement patterns with a methodology that allows our athletes to develop high level swing patterns suited to their current physical ability and long-term goals.  He currently works with softball players from D1 schools such as Va Tech and Elon as well as high school softball players committed to James Madison University and Penn State among others.  On the baseball side he currently works with multiple high school D1 prospects including those committed to schools such as The University of Virginia and James Madison University. 

 

Matt Holden, CSCS

Assistant Director of Athlete Development

Matt recently graduated with a degree in Exercise Science from Eastern Mennonite University following a successful collegiate soccer career.  Matt is a current competitive powerlifter and well versed in nutrition for athletes, Olympic Lifting and acute/chronic load management research for injury risk reduction rates.  He currently designs training programs for our athletes and oversees their training.

 

Spenser Davis

Director of Pitching Analytics for Baseball and Softball

Spenser graduated from Marymount college where he was pitcher on their baseball team.  Following graduation, Spenser transitioned to offering private pitching lessons before coming on board with us.  He is also the current assistant varsity baseball coach for Blue Ridge Christian School.  Spenser oversees the implementation and data collection of all our pitching technology such as Rapsodo, Motus throw and pocket radar along with video to help our baseball and softball pitchers analyze and refine their current pitches as well as deign new pitches.  Along with his hands on work, he also creates data sheets for each pitcher so we can track all bullpens, pitch design sessions, motus throw data which allows us to look for trends over time.

 

Ben Nyce

Trainer

Ben is currently a part time employee for us and a full- time teacher in the Harrisonburg City School System.  He is also a competitive powerlifter.   Ben provides high quality coaching to all our athletes.
